Kristi Smith is thrilled to be joining the Motivated Movers team! She is an Allentown, PA native where she started dancing at the age of 3. Moving to NYC in 2006, she attended NYU Tisch School of the Arts and graduated with a BFA in dance in 2009. She has called NYC home ever since!
Upon graduation, Kristi initially pursued a career in concert dance, working at Dance/NYC in arts administration, dancing with the ballet company Ballet Noir, and apprenticing with TAKE Dance Company. Discovering she found more joy in auditioning for musical theater, she decided to focus her energy into a new dream.
She has since been able to perform in On the Town (Waxler Productions), Mamma Mia! (Riverside Theatre/ Walnut Street Theatre) The Music Man(Theatre by the Sea), Beauty and the Beast(Alabama Shakespeare Festival), Billy Elliot (Media Theatre), Catch Me If You Can(Woodminster Amphitheater), Mame (Bucks County Playhouse/Media Theatre), and Phantom(Players Theater). She has also had the privilege of working with many NYC choreographers on projects including developing Born To Dance for Princess Cruise lines, being part of the Gypsy of the Year’s opening number (both choreographed by Al Blackstone) as well as performing in the PHISH NYE Concert at Madison Square Garden. She is a member of the Actors’ Equity Association.
Along with performing, she also loves to teach. She spent two years at Ballet Tech in NYC auditioning and assisting ballet class for students 2 nd -4 th grade. She choreographs, substitute teaches, and runs workshops at studios in the NJ, PA area. She also works for VIP Dance competition during the winter and spring season. Dance is such a huge part of her life and she has such a passion in spreading the joy dance brings to her to anyone she can!
