FAQs

What if I’ve never danced before?

You are exactly why we are here. Being new at anything as an adult can be a challenge. We design every experience to ensure you are surrounded by the support or approach needed to not only start but keep going.

What if I’m not an artist?

Dance is for every body. You are in the right place.

When we started 8 years ago, we were focused solely on serving professional artists. Our mission has evolved along with our community - everyone is welcome.

Where do I start?

We recommend joining one of our free or invest-what-you-can classes to begin. This is a great opportunity to meet the community and take the first step.

If you are not sure which class is right for you, reach out to start a conversation.

How do I dance from home?

This answer is unique for everyone. The beauty of dancing from home is the lack of commute and the comfort of dancing privately, even with your camera off. The challenge is finding the right space.

We recommend finding a living room, basement, garage, or backyard with a bit of open space. Move furniture if you need to and make sure you cannot trip on anything. Carpet or wood floor works just fine. Concrete or grass is less optimal but possible.

In this article, we break it all down for you. But never hesitate to reach out with questions before your first class.

What shoes do I wear?

This depends on both the class and the floor you are dancing on. We recommend you ask your teacher before class, but here is a good place to start:

  • Ballet: Socks, bare feet, or ballet shoes.

  • Theatre/Jazz: Socks, sneakers, jazz shoes

  • Tap: tap shoes or sneakers (no taps required!)

What if I have an injury or movement limitation?

Our “You Do You” policy means you have the freedom to adapt everything in every class as you need. Never hesitate to ask for modifications. Stop or choose a different option if it doesn’t feel right in your body. Seek medical attention if you are experiencing pain or movement restriction.

Additionally, our movement wellness expert, Dr. Angelica McCarthy is an incredible resource for anyone unsure where to start. She offers free consultations to our community, so reach out.
